At the entrance of The Third Suspension Bridge, there is an information that tells you about the history of earlier The Upper Suspension Bridge. The old Suspension Bridge was built in 1848 as a temporary bridge and a railway bridge in 1855. The wooden towers were even changed to thick stone. In 1887, the bridge was changed to steel. In 1992, it was replaced by a luxury suspension sticky logo BIA bridge. It was dismantled, leaving the Third Suspension Bridge, the luxury suspension bridge you see today. In 2017, The Upper Suspension Bridge was again built to replace the SF Cantilever Bridge, this time it is once again temporary. The cantilever bridge deck is used for the Suspension Bridge. The railway tracks were removed and the cantilever span collapsed.
